Nissa Newton is excited to work with the nine Community Action Agencies in the state, providing resources and support, working towards ending poverty in Utah. Nissa served eight years in the military. She was in the US Army Band at Fort McClellan, Alabama and served as a Personnel Service Sergeant in the Oregon National Guard in Bend, Oregon. After which, Nissa spent an additional eight years as a Montessori teacher in Oregon and California. Nissa spent five years as the Director of Development for Fullerton College Foundation, performing extensive networking and outreach in the community, raising funds. Prior to coming to CAP Utah, Nissa was the Director of Admissions at Woodinville Montessori School in Bothell, Washington. Nissa received her Master’s in Business Administration from California State University Monterey Bay in 2013. Nissa enjoys singing jazz standards, composing ballads and playing the oboe and piano. She currently resides in West Jordan with her husband, two children and their dog.
